Alice L. Williams

December 12, 1934 - October 15, 2025

Alice L. Williams, age 90, of Millsboro, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware, on December 12, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Morris and Norah D. (Farrall) Schlifkin. Alice lived a full and adventurous life, with countless stories to share. She could often be found at the beach, reading a good book, tending to her garden, or spending time with family and friends.

At the age of 50, Alice proudly went back to school to become a registered nurse. She devoted her career to caring for others at Emily Bissell Hospital, where she was known for her compassion, patience, and dedication. Following her retirement, Alice continued her lifelong commitment to helping others by volunteering with hospice and serving as an ombudsman—advocating for residents and giving a voice to those who could not speak for themselves. She was admired for her kindness and the profound impact she made in the lives of many.

Alice loved to travel, often joining her brother on trips to explore new countries and spending her winters in Florida. But nothing brought her greater joy than her family. She adored being surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren—watching them grow, celebrating their milestones, and proudly sharing their accomplishments with anyone who would listen. Her face would light up when they visited, and the love she had for them was endless and unwavering.

Even after being diagnosed with breast cancer, Alice faced every day with strength, independence, and her signature smile. In her final years, she was lovingly cared for by her children, who made sure she was surrounded by comfort, laughter, and love—just as she had always done for them.

Alice was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Syvy (Gary) of Middletown and Robert C. Williams II (JoAnne) of Millsboro; her brother, George A. Schlifkin of Newark; her grandchildren, Craig Williams (Megan), Kristen Smith, Gary Syvy (Barbara), Ashley Strong (Ryan), Dustin Williams, and Amanda Williams; and her nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Williams; her son, Kenneth A. Williams; and her brother, Edward M. Schlifkin.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, Delaware, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alice’s memory to Seasons Hospice Foundation, 310 Busse Highway #311, Park Ridge, IL 60068 or online by clicking here.

Her love, strength, and stories will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

4 Condolences for Alice L. Williams

  • To Alice Williams Family. I think everyone should have an Alice Williams in their life. What a wonderful person. She gave so much of herself to help others…a caring and generous person. I will miss our talks, giggles and stories. Prayers to the family and Deepest Sympathy.

  • Dear Family of Alice,
What a delight it has been to get to know Alice! She was truly a blessing to all those with whom she came in contact. We loved to hear her stories about you, her beloved family. She definitely loved to care for and nuture others. Her well-cared-for African violets reflected her love for God’s creation. She also happily helped us in caring for the gardening at our Kingdom Hall.

Alice had developed a deep love and trust in God that was reflected in her conversation and decisions. We are sure that it was her desire that “the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort” may continue to comfort you during this difficult time.

We are so thankful for your loving care and support for her. We will continue to pray for you all.

    With heartfelt sympathy,

    Moses and Anna Marie Sotelo
