Alice Mae Davis
March 8, 1950 - March 31, 2021
Alice Mae Davis, age 71, of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.
Born in Wilmington, DE, on March 8, 1950, she was a daughter of William and Leuise (Mingledoff) Davis. Alice was one of 18 children. Singing and music brought Alice joy. Jewelry and clothing with glistening bling, worn with one of her many perfumes, made her heart sing. Alice described herself as a good Christian woman who helped others in need. She was generous with her time and her resources, including involvement with programs that fed children. Alice enjoyed her work, including her role as a food service worker for the University of Delaware, and as a coffee hostess for Wawa.
Alice’s self-description is affirmed by her friends. A car ride would equal good conversation and a bit of song. A friend’s troubles would provide an opportunity to listen and to pray, extending those prayers into the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church faith community. She was a good friend to have. Alice’s memory of birthdays and other significant life events were a gift. Her friendship is greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, May 13, 2021, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 701 South College Avenue, Newark, DE. Covid-19 protocols will include the taking of temperatures, recording contact tracing information, and face masks for all in attendance. Interment will follow in the church’s Memorial Garden.
In lieu of flowers, Alice requested memorials be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 701 South College Avenue, Newark, DE 19713.
