Allan Duane Bennett, age 88, of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020.

Born in Clairton, PA on April 30, 1932, he was a son of the late John Kirk and Christiana (Blush) Bennett. Allan worked as a salesman for Guardian Protection Services. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing bridge or gardening, especially caring for his raspberry bushes. Allan was a member of the Newark Senior Center.

Allan is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Rebecca J. (Deck) Bennett; children, Gary A. Bennett (Katrina) of St. Albans, WV, Gregory S. Bennett (Margaret) of Nitro, WV, Susan R. Bennett of Hurricane, WV, Tami J. Bennett of Kincaid, WV and Donald “Doug” Bennett (Julie) of Cross Lanes, WV; stepdaughter, Catherine M. Moore of Reading, PA; siblings, David Bennett (Lois), William Bennett (Mary Ann), Larry Bennett (Judy), Kathleen Mills and Vivian Malits; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

All services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Allan’s memory to Newark Senior Center, 200 White Chapel Drive, Newark, DE 19713.

  • Becky ~ I’m so sorry to hear of Allan’s passing. I’m sure this has been a very hard time for you and your family especially during this Corona pandemic and not being able to visit with him if he was in the hospital as well as the services that must be minimal during this time. Please know that my prayers and condolences are with you and your family during this time and the days to come.

  • Duane was a great uncle that always had wonderful stories to listen to. He will be greatly missed and I loved spending time with him when I did. He is looking down on us now from heaven knowing that he led a great life. Thoughts and prayers to all family members of this to in tour lives.
