Arthur T. Weinmann

Mr. Arthur Thomas Weinmann, age 86, of Newark, DE, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2012.
Mr. Weinmann was born in Richmond Hill, NY, on February 27, 1926, son of the late Arthur Phillip Weinmann and Margaret Snyder Weinmann. He was raised in Long Island, NY, and would go on to serve his country proudly in the US Navy during World War II as a signal man aboard the destroyer escort, the USS Key. In civilian life, he made his career as a research technician with the DuPont Company, where he retired after over 30 years of service.
Although trained as a classical pianist, Mr. Weinmann later became known as a jazz musician. He starred in the US Navy’s jazz ensemble during its Korean tour, and, after the war, formed his own popular band, “The Art Mann Trio,” which was in great demand in the area.
His beloved wife of 59 years, Patricia June Birchard Weinmann, passed away in 2011. He is survived by his children, Patty Cheek (Ted), Michael Weinmann (Wendy), and Beth Dietz (Kerry); sisters, Lorraine Prager (Lane) and Peggy Furrer; four grandchildren; and a great granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 11 am. Entombment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
