Barbara Lynn Lumley - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Barbara Lynn Lumley

Barbara Lynn Lumley, age 57, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 17, 2022 in her hometown of Newark, DE.

Barbara was not only an exceptional sister to her own siblings, but a best friend to anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. Once you had received her iconic “whistle, snap, and wink” of approval, everyone became family to Barbara, and becoming a part of Barbara’s family meant the pleasure of unconditional love.  Your birthday would never be forgotten, and your special interests were sure to be discussed at each meeting. To know Barbara was to truly understand the childlike joy in all of life’s small moments.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Walter S. Lumley Jr. and Margaret “Peggy” Lumley; and her sister, Nancy Lumley. Barbara is survived by her older sister, Patricia (Steve) Harkeli; older brothers, Walter S. Lumley, III and David Lumley; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12:30 pm on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12:30 pm. Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance regardless of their vaccination status. Interment will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery, 3300 Lancaster Avenue, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Chimes to honor the hardworking healthcare workers that provided kind and selfless care to Barbara for many years. Donations may be made by mail to 4815 Seton Drive, Baltimore, MD 21215 or online by clicking here.
