Berenice Claire Bourne
Berenice Claire Bourne, age 95, passed away peacefully at her home in Marietta, GA, on February 2, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Philadelphia, PA on September 29, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John J and Isabelle (Trainor) Coyle. She attended school and grew up in Pennsylvania and lived and worked in Syracuse, NY before relocating to Newark, DE. She and her husband owned and operated an Ace Hardware Store, retiring in 1983 to Boynton Beach, FL to fish and play golf.
Wherever she lived, she was an active member of her church. Berenice was an enthusiastic volunteer and served on several committees and various Association Boards of Directors. She was an avid golfer, loved to sew and had a passion for bridge.
In addition to her parents, Berenice was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John W. Bourne; son, John L. Bourne; grandson, Richard C. Bourne; and great grandson, William G. Dorval. She is survived by six children, Marianne Carbone of Ciero NY, Donna Washburne of Marietta, GA, Sr. Jane Bourne, OSF of Syracuse, NY, Patricia Bishop (Donald) of Watertown, NY, Michael Bourne (Patricia) of Newark, DE and Susan Ford of West Grove, PA; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am Thursday, June 27, 2019, at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 300 State Rd, West Grove, PA 19390. Interment will be held at 12 noon in Holy Cross Cemetery, 626 Baily Rd, Yeadon, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Berenice’s memory to Assumption of the Blessed Mother at the address listed above.
