Bernard G. “Lucky” McKeehan, Sr.

August 6, 1929 - November 20, 2019

          Bernard G. “Lucky” McKeehan, Sr., age 90, of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019.

          Born in Walsenburg, CO on August 6, 1929, he was a son of the late Vernon and Josephine (Martinez) McKeehan.  Lucky proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.  He worked as an assembler with the Chrysler plant, retiring after 38 dedicated years.  Lucky loved his family and friends and enjoyed writing letters to them.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Kathy M. West and baby Susan; and brothers, William and Floyd McKeehan.  Lucky is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joan R. (Garcia) McKeehan; children, Joan L. Dougherty of Bear, Bernard McKeehan, Jr. (Nancy) of Phoenix, AZ, Larry S. McKeehan of Fontana, CA, Guy B. McKeehan of Newark, Thomas A. McKeehan of Newark, Alan W. McKeehan of Placentia, CA, Susan A. McKeehan of Ocean City, MD and Dale V. McKeehan (Deanna) of Newark; siblings, Marlene Arvizo, Samuel McKeehan, Dorothy Wilcox, John McKeehan, Ronnie McKeehan, Lillian Shoemaker and David McKeehan, all of California; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren.

          A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 noon until 1 pm on Monday, November 25, 2019, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 1 pm.  A committal service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, December 2, 2019 in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
