Betty H. Kniskern

Betty H. Kniskern passed away peacefully on May 6, 2020 at the age of 88.  She was deeply loved and will forever be remembered by her loving husband of 65 years, James; and their children, Timothy, Jennifer, Jonathan; and her beloved grandson, Jonny.

Betty Jean was born in Covington, VA in 1931 to the late Forrest L. and Lillian S. Hostetter.  She met her husband James there and they moved with their children to Newark, DE in 1973.  Betty was an active member of the Head of Christiana Presbyterian Church and a volunteer at Hope Dining Room.  She was an avid reader who enjoyed gardening, knitting, cooking and playing duplicate bridge with her husband and her friends.

A private family service will be held at Bethel Cemetery in Chesapeake City, MD where she will be interred.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Newark Free Library, 750 Library Avenue, Newark, DE 19711, Hope Dining Room, 300 Marrows Road, Newark, DE 19713, or an animal rescue of your choice in Betty Kniskern’s name.
