Betty J. Clifton

August 25, 1937 - September 11, 2013

Mrs. Betty J. Clifton, age 76, of Newark, DE, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, surrounded by her loving, but heartbroken family.
Mrs. Clifton was born in Princeton, WV, on August 25, 1937, daughter of the late Hettie and George Cole. A talented homemaker, she greatly enjoyed cooking for her family, canning, sewing, quilting, working puzzles, listening to country music, watching game shows, and planting and growing her vegetable and flower garden each year. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and teaching people about Jehovah. She was a longtime member of the Newark Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Well known throughout her life for her compassionate, patient, generous, and kind nature, she was a loving caregiver to anyone in need. She always believed in love and forgiveness and was a true example of that.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Bruce Clifton, in 2006, as well as a brother and three sisters. She is survived by her children, Bruce Nathan Clifton, Jr., Patricia Ann Clifton, Norma Jean Clifton, and Pamela Lea Zuppo; grandchildren, Jenine N. Clifton Denham and husband Mitchell, Anthony Zuppo, and River Rodriguez; and great grandchildren, Derrik, Mitchell, and Jacob.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, September 17th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. A second visitation will begin at 10 am on Wednesday, September 18th, at the funeral home, followed by a funeral service at 11 am. Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N.
