Billie D. Cain

August 28, 1969 - January 3, 2022

Billie D. Cain, age 52, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her husband of 29 years and three children, on Monday, January 3, 2022, following a strenuous battle with liver disease.

Born in Buckhannon, WV, on August 28, 1969, she was the daughter of the late Don W.C. and Margaret A. (Martin) Bailey. Billie graduated from Buckhannon Upsher High School. Following graduation, she moved to Delaware with her sister, where just days later she met the love of her life, Mark. They married on September 19th, 1992, and welcomed three children shortly after. Billie was a proud employee of MBNA which would become Bank of America for over 32 years.

To know Billie would mean you know she never meet a stranger. She was the most caring, giving, and thoughtful person you would ever have the pleasure of knowing. Billie was one of seven children, she loved nothing more than spending time with her husband, children, sisters, brother, and many nieces and nephews. If she was not found at one of her family events, she could be found out getting dinner with girlfriends, vacationing in Captiva, FL, watching crime shows or Days Of Our Lives, playing Tetris, or reading a good book with a cup of hot tea. Billie loved nothing more than being a mom and had devoted her life to her children, being their biggest cheerleaders no matter how small or big the achievement might be.

Billie is survived by her husband of 29 years, Mark Cain; children, Lauren Brown (Alexander), Sean Cain, and Jason Cain; siblings, Donald Bailey, Kim Shaver (Scott), Ann Sisofo (Michael), Peggy Wiley (Theodore), Rose McGuire (Arthur), and Angel Bailey; 18 nieces and nephews; 7 great-nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am. Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance regardless of their vaccination status. Interment will follow in Old Drawyers Cemetery, 2839 DuPont Highway, Middletown, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Billie’s memory to the American Liver Foundation, PO Box 299, West Orange, NJ 07052.

51 Condolences for Billie D. Cain

  • Billie Cain was a great human being. I worked with her for many years, she was a “go-to-SME” because when I had questions she had the knowledge base to answer the questions or point me in the right direction. I loved working with Billie. She was always willing to share what she knew and to teach others. A fond memory is of her coming over to spend a spring afternoon together on my porch to review documents for a project.
She will be sorely missed by her many friends and family.
    Peace.

I’m so sorry. Billie was such a beautiful person inside and out. When we worked together at MBNA, I was always in trouble for being away from my desk but I had to get my fix of Billie’s bubbly personality each day and they wouldn’t sit us near each other (ha – it might have been really good for me!) . I know I speak for all of us from the MBNA Crew when I say our lives were so blessed by knowing Billie. You and your family are in my prayers.
