Bobby Ayers
April 16, 1947 - November 7, 2021
Bobby Ayers, age 74, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Sunday, November 7, 2021. He is survived by his son, Malik, his daughter-in-love, Christina, two grandchildren, Ngozi and Sadiki, and his sister, Saundra and niece, Jessica.
Born on April 16, 1947, he was a son of the late Gertrude Garnett. He was the oldest of 3 siblings: James, Leon, and Saundra. A native of Washington D.C., he was an avid fan of the Washington Football Team and he loved go-go music.
The simple pleasures of life brought great joy to Bobby. He loved sitting on the deck, completing a crossword puzzle or playing cards with his friends and family. He also enjoyed bowling, taking care of the dogs, and watching movies. Bobby had an easy-going, kind, and friendly personality. Anyone who knew him was touched by his gentle and mild temperament.
For the past 7 years, Bobby attended the Middletown-Odessa-Townsend Senior Center, where he served on the Advisory Board, and he was the captain of the Wii-Bowl team. Bobby would attend the center a few times a week and looked forward to playing cards, talking to friends, and participating in field trips. He has loved traveling and cruising with his many friends at the center.
Bobby enjoyed a career as a cook, working at various restaurants in D.C. He worked at Gettysburg Eddie’s in Gettysburg, PA for over 20 years. In 1982, Bobby married Rachelann, and he raised her two sons as his own: Lonnie Watlington and Malik Muhammad. For the past 10 years, after retiring, Bobby has lived with his son’s family in Delaware. We will all miss him more than words can say.
Please join the family in celebrating a life well-lived. There will be a virtual memorial service held on Friday, November 12th from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm EST. Please use this link to join the service: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85359931598. Interment will be held privately.

I don’t have many memories with Mr. Bobby but I always remember him walking in town from work or to the store. And I remember the way he laughed, his smile was so big and genuine. And YES, he was a quiet man. He’s loved and missed. I love y’all. Remain beautiful❤️
