Bonnie Jane Catts
August 1, 1945 - November 22, 2024
Bonnie Jane Catts, age 79, of Middletown, DE, passed away at her residence, surrounded by family, on Friday, November 22, 2024.
Born in Wilmington, DE on August 1, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Edward T. and Catherine (Cassidy) Veazey. Raised in New Castle, Bonnie graduated from William Penn High School. She loved her high school years immensely where she excelled in girls’ sports, including field hockey, softball and basketball. When Bonnie was not actively playing sports, she was cheerleading for the boys’ sports teams. She also cherished the many friendships she made at William Penn. One of Bonnie’s favorite past times was dancing. She rarely missed a Lion’s Club dance and continued dancing through the years.
Following graduation, she worked for the News Journal as an advertising representative. Bonnie then made a career in the healthcare industry as a medical receptionist working for many wonderful doctors.
While her children were growing up, she was a devoted mother who was their biggest cheerleader and supporter. Bonnie made it a priority to be at all of their games and activities, including coaching her daughter’s softball team. When she became a grandmother, Bonnie put her granddaughter in swim lessons and took pride in watching her grow into a confident swimmer.
Bonnie loved her family and was committed to her family’s happiness. She went out of her way to make every day special. She also took great pride in maintaining a welcoming and lovely home. Bonnie will be missed by everyone who loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Steven E. Catts. Bonnie is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, William L. Catts; daughter, Leslie A. Catts; sister, Nancy D. Meany; and grandchildren, Jada S. Catts and Eric C. Catts.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 2:30 pm. Interment will be held privately.

Bill,… you had a great marriage to a wonderful wife. Bonnie and I have been good friends for over 60 years and she was my favorite dance partner. She had a great laugh. We hope that she’s at peace now from that battle with cancer.

I first met Bonnie when I was in High School. Later my daughter and her son went to Holy Spirit together so we attended many events together. We both bought lots in Great Oak Farms so we were neighbors again until she moved again. Within the last year I ran into her and Bill at Cosco s . I recognized her right away. We had a good time catching up. So sorry to read of her passing. May she rest in peace.🙏
