Bridgette A. Wienikes, age 37, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.
Born in Newark, DE, on July 19, 1986, Bridgette was a daughter of Jo Ann (Wyatt) Wienikes and Thomas Wienikes. She was born with Prader Willi Syndrome, and was the first case in diagnosed in Delaware.
Bridgette was a cheerful and loving girl. She loved collecting butterflies and bugs, could put a 1000 piece puzzle together in record time, and enjoyed helping take care of her nieces and cousins. She made many lifelong friends at Chimes Delaware and through the Special Olympics, enjoying participation in bocce ball, basketball, and bowling. In her spare time, Bridgette loved to make beautiful crafts.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sister, Rachel Wienikes; and nieces, Jamie ‘Rae Mitchell and Jo ‘Anna Wienikes.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Monday, August 28, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bridgette’s memory to AccentCare Hospice, 220 Continental Drive, Suite #407, Newark, DE 19713.
