Carolyn Ann Carwell

July 3, 1945 - February 6, 2021

Carolyn Ann Carwell, age 75, of Middletown, DE, and formerly of The Bronx, NY, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at her residence.

Born in Lynchburg, VA, on July 3, 1945, she was a daughter of the late John and Alvour (Stewart) Mack. Carolyn made a living as a legal clerk for New York Telephone Company and as a home healthcare provider. She was a dedicated member of Dearington Church in Lynchburg, VA, where she also served as an usher. In her spare time, Carolyn enjoyed cooking, dancing, gardening, listening to music and macrame.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her siblings, James Thornhill, Frances Davis and Maxine Mack. She is survived by her children, John H.E. Carwell, Jr. (Raina) of Middletown, Damon L. Carwell of Lynchburg, VA, and Adrienne L. Carwell of Middletown; grandchildren, Jada Carwell, Alexis Carwell, David Woodson, Joshua Carwell, Layla Carwell, Amira Carwell, Nasir Carwell and Zion Hamlet; goddaughter, Tonya Taylor (Creed); nephew, Cameron Paige; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A visitation for family and guests will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at Love of Christ Church – Middletown Campus, 316 Warwick Rd, Middletown, DE 19709, followed by a memorial service at 11 am. Interment will follow in Old Drawyers Cemetery, Odessa, DE. Face masks will be required for all in attendance. The family requests for all visitors to wear vibrant clothing to honor Carolyn’s vibrant personality.

Any family members or friends who are unable to attend Carolyn’s service can live stream the service on Zoom via meeting ID 844 6263 0379 and password 074150.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to her neurologist, Steven Bojarski, home health aide, Zalaysia DeShields and physical therapist, Brenda Grassett, for the excellent care provided to Carolyn during her illness.

The family would also like to express their loving gratitude towards the Wallace, Christy, Richardson, Warfield and Merritt families.
