Catherine R. Krause

September 2, 1922 - August 6, 2019

Catherine R. Krause, age 96, of North East, MD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 6, 2019.

Born in Wilmington, DE on September 2, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Frank J. and Julia (DeNest) Madora.  Catherine worked for many years in housekeeping for Memorial Hospital in Wilmington until it closed.  She then went to work for Christiana Hospital. 

Following retirement she and Emil moved to Rehoboth.  After Emil passed away Catherine moved to North East to live with her son.  She enjoyed attending the Elkton Senior Center.  In 2011, Catherine became a resident of Sunny Acres, where she made friends with the nursing staff.  She loved to sing and enjoyed listening to music.

In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Francis Krause; second husband, Emil Krause; daughter, Julia Ann Cox; brother, Albert Madora; and sisters, Mary Ambers, Rachelle Christina and Merna Fiest.  She is survived by her son, Walter Krause (Theresa); sister, Lorraine Hickman (George); grandsons, Walter F. Krause III, Paul T. Krause and Robert W. Ingle ; great grandson, Paul T. Krause, Jr.; and great granddaughter, Taylor Ingle.

On behalf of the family, they would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Sunny Acres for their kindness and wonderful care they provided to their mom.        

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 noon until 1 pm on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 1 pm.  Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Catherine’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.

  • She watched my 2 sons for several years. She was the best, kind and loving sitter. My sons loved her. I’ve always been grateful for her and the love she gave them.
