Caverrett Ivanhoe “Ivan” Morrison
November 17, 1925 - December 13, 2023
Caverrett Ivanhoe “Ivan” Morrison, age 98, of Middletown, DE, peacefully departed at Cadia Broadmeadow on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.
Born in Jamaica on November 17, 1925, he was a son of the late Alberta McCloud and Lincoln Morrison. He lived and attended school in St. Catherine, Jamaica and lovingly was called Ivan.
At an early age, Ivan moved to Kingston for work and left Jamaica in the early 1950’s for London, England for a better life. He sent for his mother, sister Elaine and brother Dudley. Ivan eventually traveled to France to study culinary arts. Ivan met the love of his life, Leila, and they had one daughter, Lorraine, in London. Ivan also had 2 children in Jamaica, Patricia and Paul. He worked for actor, George Pappard, and traveled with him to many European countries.
In 1970, he relocated to the United States and took up residency in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was employed by Royal Bank and Trust of Palm Beach, where he was a security officer. He sent for his mother who lived in Florida until her death in 1987. He retired in the 1990’s and made several trips to Delaware to spend time with his daughter and grandchildren.
In 2019, he relocated to Delaware to live with his daughter, Lorraine, and son-in-law, Michael. He developed many friends and was respected and admired by all he came in contact with. Ivan was loved by his nephew, Lloyd Liang, who always showed special attention to him. Ivan was personally cared for by his grandson, Brandon, who would cut his hair and take him out on occasion. Grandson Rodney loved to bring him new outfits and keep his grandfather up to date in fashion. His family had several memorable dinner parties where they’ve enjoyed themselves with him. For his 80th birthday, in 2005, he had the most memorable black-tie affair which his family will forever remember; many amazing times will be carried on for years to come. Ivan helped a lot of people in his life and his grandson, Andrew, wanted his last years with his family and said to bring him to Delaware.
He leaves behind his daughter, Lorraine; grandchildren, Ryan, Rodney, Richard, Brandon, Andrew, Steve, Wynton, Ingrid, Keisha, Kereisha, Kandy, Kameisha and the late Kirt; granddaughter-in-law, Gaysha; sister, Megan; brother, Alan; great-grandchildren, Jablane, Rhyen, Ajadien, Landon, Kyah, Laiden, Andrew Jr., Brandon Jr., Brielle, Brax, Daniel, and many more; nieces, Veta and Annette; nephews, Lloyd, Michael, Basil, Timothy, Lynford, Horacio, Bobby, Karl and Junior; grandniece, Phebe; and a special thank you to dear friends and family, Michael and Lloyd Laing, Audrey, Linda Z., Stacy, Naomi, Terri, Jenny G., Wale and Veronica, Jemimah, Vissy and Rudy.
The family would like to express their gratitude to St. Anne’s Episcopal Church for all their guidance along the way. Also, a very heartfelt thank you to the special staff of Cadia Broadmeadow for their exceptional care of Ivan while he was there.
A service for family and friends will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 6th, 2024 at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, 15 East Green Street, Middletown, DE.

Dear Friends and Family of Ivan,
I was deeply saddened to hear about Ivan’s passing. I had the privilege of working alongside him at Royal Trust Bank of Palm Beach in the early 1980s, and I remember him fondly as a kind and dedicated colleague. After I moved to Washington, DC in 1985, I regretfully lost touch with Ivan. Learning that he had relocated to Delaware makes me wish I had known sooner so I could have visited him.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. Ivan’s warmth and integrity left a lasting impression on those who knew him, and he will be dearly missed.
With sympathy and warmest regards,
Scott Miller
