Charles W. Dalecki Sr., age 93, of Milford, DE, and formerly of Newark, DE, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at the Delaware Veterans Home, where he had been a resident for the past 5 years.
Born in Newark, Delaware on November 21, 1919, Mr. Dalecki was the son of the late John Dalecki and Kazmeira Kempczinski Dalecki. He honorably served his country in the US Navy during WWII aboard the USS Ludlow DD-438. Mr. Dalecki participated in the invasions of North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and Southern France before being sent to serve in the Pacific. Upon returning to the states, he proudly served as a police officer with the City of Wilmington, retiring in 1966 at the rank of sergeant. Mr. Dalecki then worked for the DuPont Company until 1982.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles W. Dalecki Jr.; daughter, Geraldine M. Kopishke; and 10 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Hazel Mark Dalecki; sister, Mildred Sarnecki; daughter, Deborah Lindinger (John); grandchildren, Monica, Phillip, Alicia, Jennifer, Mark, and Trisha; and his 4 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, January 14, 2013, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home of Newark, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
