Clinton John “Zeke” Zienneker, Jr.

Clinton John “Zeke” Zienneker, Jr., age 75, of Newark, DE, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.

Born and raised in Swedesboro, NJ on May 13, 1944, he was the son of the late Clinton J. and Louise Zienneker, Sr. Clint graduated from Paulsboro High School in Paulsboro, NJ. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and the National Guard. He retired from Chrysler Auto Plant in Newark, DE in 2008 after completing 44 years of service and belonged to UAW 1183.

Clint was a certified and experienced scuba diver and deep-sea diver, which he preferred and only did. He made all deep dives on the Italian Luxury Liner, Andrea Doria, retrieving many artifacts for the Liner and various other deep-sea dives. Clint was a mate on the diving boat “Seeker” coming out of Brielle, NJ and part of the crew who deep dived before the initial dive to set the grappling hook and pulled it out after the dive was finished. He was known as “Diver 2”.

Clint is survived by his wife, Irene (Kovaleski) Zienneker; children, Lisa Hewitt, Tracy Wilson and husband Jay, Michele Ashbaugh and Leon Wilton; sisters, Peggy Pedrick and husband Fred and Pam Zienneker; 12 grandchildren; and 2 great grandbabies.

All services will be held privately.

  • Worked with Zeke at Chrysler nice guy, definately liked to be busy and was always loud of how many years he had been at Chrysler .May he RIP.
