Daniel Gallagher

December 19, 1950 - October 4, 2019

Daniel Gallagher, age 68, of Middletown, DE, formerly of NYC, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2019.

Born on December 19, 1950, in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Lawrence Gallagher and Eleanor (Kennedy) Ruvo.

Danny’s intelligence, sense of humor, and knack for story-telling was simply unmatched. His presence commanded a room and made friends with everyone in minutes. This innate quality always drew crowds from near and far during his career in the restaurant business- from bartending, to managing, to owning quite a few. His last few years prior to retirement were spent in the construction management industry where his profound math skills were a perfect match. He loved watching sports, playing golf, fishing, boating, and singing his Celtic and classic rock tunes.
He never missed a family event or milestone. He was a true patriot, loved his city and adored his family. From “Danny Boy”, to “Mr Manhattan” to “Laddie”, his friends always coined a name for his boisterous personality.

In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his wife, Susanne B. Gallagher. He is survived by his daughter, Siobhan Merritt (Scott); sons, Keith Gallagher (Katherine) and Shane Gallagher; grandson, Aidan Merritt; granddaughters, Olivia Merritt and Susanne, Avery, and Lauren Gallagher; sister, Lynn Gallagher; brother, Craig Gallagher (Lisa); and step-mother, Mary Gallagher.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 pm until 8 pm on Friday, October 11, 2019 at Gannon Funeral Home, 152 E. 28th Street, New York, NYA Mass of Christian Burial will be offered the following morning, Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 10 am at Epiphany Church, 375 2nd Avenue, New York, NY.
