Daniel W. Farrow, Jr.
Mr. Daniel W. Farrow, Jr., age 79, of Newtown Square, PA, formerly of New Castle, DE, died on Saturday, December 4, 2010.
Born in Wilmington on December 30, 1930, Mr. Farrow was the son of the late Daniel W. Farrow, Sr. and Mildred Snyder Farrow. He was a 1948 graduate of Claymont High School and later earned his associates degree from Goldey Beacom College. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War and would go on to make his career with the DuPont Company as a computer programmer, retiring in 1982 after 34 years of service.
With his wife, Mr. Farrow was one of the founding members of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was active with the Claymont High School Reunion Committee for many years and enjoyed the monthly R.O.M.E.O. luncheons. In his leisure hours, Mr. Farrow was a model railroad enthusiast and enjoyed tracing his familys genealogy and listening to Stan Kenton Big Band music.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Wehner Farrow, in 2008. He is survived by his sons, Daniel W. Farrow IV (Joy) of Ridley Park, PA, and Glenn D. Farrow (Nancy) of Coatesville, PA; grandsons, Daniel W. Farrow V and Stephen M. Farrow; sisters, Martie Brantley and Marybeth Brantley, both of Pasadena, TX; and aunt, Martie Snyder of Rehoboth Beach, DE.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, December 9th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 11, 2010, in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where a second visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in adjoining memorial park. Note: There will be no services or visitation on Friday.
