David H. Adkins, Jr. - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

David H. Adkins, Jr.

December 25, 1951 - January 17, 2022

David H. Adkins, Jr., age 70, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, January 17, 2022.

Born in Wilmington, DE on December 25, 1951, he was the son of the late David H. Sr. and Doris L. (Shaw) Adkins.  He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lorraine Jane (Janko) Adkins; children, Justin Adkins and Kimberly Adkins and her spouse Michael Williams; grandchildren, Christopher, Brandon, Alayna, Madison, and Ariana; and his 4-legged buddy, Germany.

David worked as a computer programmer at the University of Delaware for over 25 years.  After retirement, you could always expect to find him on his home computer looking for business ventures and health products for himself and his family.  In life, David strived to embody the spirit of his favorite book, The Way of the Peaceful Warrior, allowing him to, in turn, share his perspectives on inner peace and spiritual enlightenment.  He was always quick to share a joke or funny quip, leaving you with a smile even if you didn’t realize you needed it.  Nothing brought more joy to David than his grandchildren.  He took the time to create unique and special relationships with each one, respecting them as individuals and providing them with guidance on how to be kind, loving people, which is exactly who their Poppop was.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023 or online by clicking here.
