Deborah “Debbie” Carol Jester was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on December 2, 2022 at the age of 70. She passed on peacefully and pain free while her daughter, Stacie, and her sister Dianne held her hands.
Debbie was born to Clarke and Patricia Jester on October 19, 1952 in Wilmington, DE. She graduated from DeLaWarr High School where she was on the swim and basketball teams, was a twirler (even twirling fire), and a Drum Majorette in her senior year. She led the marching band in the Washington D.C. Cherry Blossom Parade in 1970.
After high school Debbie studied and graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1974 as a Registered Nurse. She was employed by Christiana Care Health Services for her entire nursing career. Debbie loved her career and was always dedicated to giving her patients the best loving care.
Preceding her in death were her paternal grandparents, Clarence O. and Margaret R. Jester and maternal grandparents, Raymond J. and Myrtle E. Fisher (who as a young widow married Robert Simmonds); parents, Clarke V. and Patricia R. Jester; and brother, Brian P. Jester.
She is survived by her daughter, Stacie Rae Shaughnessy (husband Michael); granddaughters, Rylee and Teagan of Wilmington, DE; and daughter, Nicole Dianne; and grandchildren, Faith Patricia Warren and Zane Charles Kuczynski of Elkton, MD.
Debbie is also survived by her sister, Dianne Marie Pizzi (Joseph)of Doylestown, PA; her brother, Raymond John Jester of Freiburg, Germany; nieces, Ashley R. Pizzi of Orefield, PA, Emily Patricia Pizzi of Wilmington, DE, and Amanda L. Femano (husband Vince Francis); great nephew, Vincent F. Jr. (Enzo); and great nieces, Elena M., Quinn K., and Aven R. of Beaver Creek, OH.
Debbie loved her family and friends and enjoyed getting together with all of them whether it be a summer pool or beach party or any of our holiday parties. She was a great cook, and enjoyed sharing the family homemade fudge with everyone. Her life had been vibrant until she suffered from illnesses and surgeries that disabled her for the past 20 years of her life.
