Dennis William Davitt
October 12, 1947 - April 7, 2022
Dennis William Davitt, age 74, of Middletown, DE, formerly of West Milford and Kearny, NJ, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022.
Born in Kearny, NJ, on October 12, 1947, he was a son of the late William and Alice (McCrea) Davitt. Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps completing 2 tours in Vietnam. He made his career as a supervisor for the Town of Kearny for 40 years. Dennis served as the past commander at VFW Post #1302 in Kearny, NJ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon (Duplain) Davitt; grandson, Dylan Vecchiarelli; and sister-in-law, Diane Davitt. He is survived by his children, Heather Crist (Sergio), Jason Davitt (Sheetal), Joan Vecchiarelli, and Ray Vecchiarelli; siblings, Michael Davitt (Caren), Peggy Lawless (Jay), William Davitt, and Gary Davitt (Diana); grandchildren, Alexis, Madison, Jonathan, Saheli, Aanya, Jennifer, Raymond, Jacklynn, Lexy, Melissa, and Jessica; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, April 23, 2022, in Northern New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 75 North Church Road, Sparta, NJ 07871.

I am so very sorry to read about Dennis passing. Dennis served the Town of Kearny well and I was so happy that I got to work with Dennis, as a member of the Town Council. I also had the privilege of again working with Dennis when he was Commander of Post 1302.
I extend my deepest sympathies to Dennis’s family. Rest in Peace my friend.
