November 7, 1942 - January 17, 2022

Dolores Mae “Dee” Ashley, age 79, of Middletown, DE, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022, surrounded by family.

Born in Chester, PA, on November 7, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Rudolph Charles and Theresa Margaret (Murray) Kovac. In her younger years, Dee worked as a school bus driver in the state of Delaware. Later in life, she worked as a cashier at Safeway for 20 years. She had many interests, including sewing, shopping, traveling, and visiting the beach. Dee was an immaculate housekeeper and enjoyed taking care of her home. A talented seamstress, she designed and created wedding gowns, prom dresses, Halloween costumes, and many other pieces. Dee took pride in her appearance, always keeping up with the latest fashion trends, hair, and makeup. She loved her family, and made spending time with them a priority. She was often found taking her grandchildren out to eat and to the movies. Above all, Dee was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Dee was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Merrill Reed Ashley, Sr.; grandson, Joshua Ashley; and sister, Harriett Parnell. She is survived by her son, Reed Ashley, Jr. and his wife, Priscilla; grandchildren, Dalton and Julianna Ashley; siblings, Brenda Brown (Howard), Connie Collins, and Kenny Kovac; beloved cousin, Mary Siti, and many nieces and nephews whom she adored.

All services will be held privately.
