Died: 10/16/2012

Mrs. Doris B. Perry, age 94, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at her home.
Born in Wiconisco, PA, on February 23, 1918, Mrs. Perry was the daughter of the late William Boden and Myrl Ibberson Boden. She was a gifted nurse and proudly served her country in the US Navy during World War II. As a devoted military wife, she traveled extensively with her husband, US Navy Captain Thomas R. Perry, during his many postings around the world, including their 22 years living in Toms River, NJ, while he served as the commanding officer of the Naval Air Station in Lakehurst, NJ. In 1987, they moved to Newark, DE, to be closer to their daughter and family. While in Delaware, Mrs. Perry was a faithful member of the White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church. Following Captain Perry’s death in 1991, Mrs. Perry volunteered extensively with the support group “Pathways Through Grief” to help other widows and widowers cope with their losses.
Mrs. Perry is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Perry Methvin and husband Robert Jr. of Newark, DE; and grandchildren, Robert E. Methvin III of Newark, DE, Thomas W. Methvin and wife Bianca of San Antonio, TX, and Laura J. Methvin of Newark, DE.
The family extends special thanks to good friends Dolores, Lydia and Turquoise and to the nurses and staff of Seasons Hospice for their love and support.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 11:45 am.
