Doris E. Kolodi, age 88, of Newark, DE, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Chester, PA on February 26, 1930, she was a daughter of the late George Cross and Florence P. (Shelton) Birney. Doris married the love of her life, Albert Kolodi on September 9, 1950 at St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Chester, PA. Together they moved to Delaware with their family in 1970.

Doris loved to travel with her husband, especially to the beach. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and the daily paper. Doris liked to watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Kolodi and son, Timothy M. Kolodi. Doris is survived by her children, George Albert Kolodi (Lorraine Matarese), Florence Pearl Kolodi, Kevin Michael Kolodi (Cheryl); sister, Ruthann Donlin; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; and nephew, David Evans (Sheila). She also leaves behind her good neighbor and dearest friend, Barbara and Jimmy Dickenson, who were so good to Doris.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12:30 pm on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12:30 pm. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Doris’ name to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
