Doris May (Hyatt) Grove, age 78, of Dover, DE, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019.

Born in Wilmington, DE on February 19, 1940, she was a daughter of the late John E. and Amy M. (Cameron) Hyatt. Doris worked for Wilmington University for many years before retiring in 1999.

A nature lover, Doris could always be found gardening, bird watching or camping. She was very creative and enjoyed painting and cross stitch. Doris was a member of the Red Hat Society and volunteered for many different organizations throughout her life. She also liked traveling to new places. Most of all, Doris loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Grove, Sr.; brother, George Hyatt; and sisters, Louise Terrell and Betty Jane Hyatt. She is survived by her children, Rich Grove (Carol), Donna Quinn (Bill) and Bob Grove (Neeka); brothers, John E. Hyatt Jr. and Rick Hyatt; grandchildren, Josh Quinn (Julia), Eric Quinn (Felicia), Lauren Schiller (Jeff), Andy Grove (Mary), Sara Grove, Jillian Ash, Reilly Grove and Brenna Grove; and great-grandchildren, Maks and Niko Quinn, Gavin and Mason Quinn and Claire and Drew Schiller.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 pm on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Interment will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doris’ memory to Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 3135 Summit Bridge Road, Bear, DE 19701.

  • Rich, Donna, Robert and families…. so very sorry to hear about the passing of your beloved Mother. I know she is in heaven reuniting with your dad. Maybe even hanging with my mom and dad… I am sorry that I can not make it to the funeral this time. I am working this week. Please know that it is a blessing that they are now together for eternity….
