Dorothy J. “Dottie” Allen, age 72, of Middletown, DE passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020.

Born in Upland Borough, PA on October 23, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Richard Morton and Dorothy (Taylor) Rickards. Dottie worked for Comcast as a customer service representative for over 20 years until her retirement. She enjoyed shopping, and cherished celebrating holidays and family birthdays. Most of all, Dottie loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Gerald D. Allen of Middletown; children, Daina Parker (Jameson) of Middletown and Dinae Woodside of Frederica; and 4 grandchildren.

All services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dottie’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.

  • Dottie and I worked together at Comcast. I remember her dancing with her husband at company functions- smiling and dancing. I like to remember her that way. God Bless you family.

  • I had the absolute honor of meeting Dottie as her caretaker. I understand that I didn’t meet the Dottie everyone else knew but I had a tremendous bond with her quickly. She would smile no matter what. She loved music and we listened to it everyday as I called her Dottie Jean my dancing queen. Forever in my heart.

  • I worked with Dottie at State Farm insurance co. In Springfield, PA. in the early 70’s. We became friends
    Immediately. Dottie was easy to like and she always had time for a friend. She had a wonderful sense of
    humor and could always make you laugh. She was a beautiful person inside and out. Her family and pets
    we’re her pride and joy she loved sharing pictures of them with her friends. I will miss her Christmas cards
    with her uplifting travel and family stories of the year. A truly caring person who would want her family to
    be happy and feel joy in the memories of time spent with her . Gary, Daena and Denae may God bring you
    peace and comfort at this time of sadness. You are all in my prayers.

  • I’m just finding out about Dottie’s passing. Dottie was a beautiful spirit. We worked together starting with Heritage, TCI, Suburban & Lastly Comcast Cable. I was saddened to hear she suffered with Alzheimer’s and passed. God Bless The Family.
