Dorothy J. Smith, age 78, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022.

Born in Pottsville, PA on July 16, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Gladys (Kiefer) Schoffstall. Dorothy made her career as a custodian for the Colonial School District for many years.

Dedicated to her faith, Dorothy was a devoted and longtime member of the Wilmington Church of God. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her sister, Becky and her brother, Robert.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard L. Smith, Sr. She is survived by her loving son, Richard L. Smith, Jr. (Tabitha); grandsons, Dalton Lee Smith, and Mason Hunter; siblings, Becky McTheney (William) and Robert Schoffstall; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 8:30 am until 9:30 am on Friday, December 2, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 9:30 am. Inurnment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy’s memory to Wilmington Church of God, 2410 Newport Gap Pike, Wilmington, DE 19808.
