Edward F. Crowe
Mr. Edward F. Crowe, age 51, of Middletown, DE, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 5, 2013.
Born in Buffalo, NY on December 28, 1961, Ed graduated from Smyrna High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of Delaware. He began his professional career with the former MBNA, where he worked for 18 years. As an expert in OFAC (US Department of the Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control) regulations, he would go on to work as a compliance officer with JP Morgan. Most recently, he accepted a position with PayPal in Timonium, MD. Well known by his colleagues for his outstanding work ethic and unflagging commitment to a job well done, he was equally admired for his great personal integrity and his wonderful sense of humor.
Ed was devoted to animal welfare throughout his life (he especially loved Great Danes and Golden Retrievers) and was actively involved in local Great Dane rescue for many years. Even more devoted to his family, he delighted in cooking wonderful, creative meals for them. Each Christmas, he baked his special holiday sugar cookies from a secret recipe that he only recently revealed to his beloved great niece.
An avid outdoorsman, Ed greatly enjoyed hiking in Maine, vacationing in the Outer Banks, and fishing everywhere! He was a car enthusiast and was especially knowledgeable about diesel trucks and muscle cars. He was also a student of history and a talented amateur photographer.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Rebecca Crowe; parents, Mary and Edward Crowe; brothers, Michael Crowe and Shawn Crowe (Patti); a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly; and his Great Dane, Georgette.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League, Inc. (MAGDRL), P.O. Box 285, Hanover, MD 21076 (magdrl.org).
