Mr. Edwin W. Barto, Sr., age 85, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2012.
A native Delawarean, Mr. Barto was born in Wilmington on October 7, 1926. He was employed as a forklift operator with Kaiser Aluminum in New Castle for 15 years until his retirement in 1989.
Mr. Barto was a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima parish. In his leisure hours, he greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and cheering each season for his favorite Philadelphia sports teams.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor V. Fedorowicz Barto, and by a brother, Darryl Barto. He is survived by his children, Vicki Long (Tom) of Wilmington, Edwin W. Barto, Jr. (Debbie) of Newark, and Terry Ann Bacher (Ed Flynn) of New Castle; sisters, Betty Casteline of FL, Elsie Smith of Wilmington, and Phoebe Dennis of Seaford; grandchildren, Michele Hornberger, Bruce Johnson, William Johnson, Robert Bacher, Edwin Barto III, Aaron Bacher, and Carly Barto; seven great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am on Friday, January 27, 2012, at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington.
