Elaine A. Weinkowitz
March 29, 1941 - June 29, 2024
Elaine A. Weinkowitz, age 83, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 29, 2024.
Born in Wilmington on March 29, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Thomas “Tucker” and Pasqualina “Lena” Anselme. Elaine was a proud member of the first graduating class of Padua Academy in 1958. After graduation, she continued her education at the St. Francis School of Nursing, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse. Elaine started her career as a pediatric nurse at AI DuPont Hospital for Children, where she devoted many years of her career to caring for children and bringing comfort and healing to countless young patients and their families. After having a family herself, she transitioned into the home health care setting, starting as a staff nurse specializing in pediatrics, and eventually retiring as a Home Health Aide Coordinator. She was known for her patience, kindness, and overall fun and goofy nature.
Elaine proudly found sobriety on July 18th, 1997 and spent the remainder of her life as a sponsor to many fellow recoverees. She was known by all for her warm and caring nature, her love for helping others, and her unwavering dedication to her family.
In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by former husband, Michael F. Weinkowitz, Jr.; sons, Dane and Scott Weinkowitz; grandson, Tory Adams; and her beloved dog, Bentley. She is survived by her sister, roommate and best friend, Loretta Berl; “Bookends,” Michael Weinkowitz (Wayne Hamilton) and Amy Marie Ottinger (Eric Lewis); daughter in law, Jaime McKeown; and grandchildren, Dawson and Hunter Ottinger, Scott, Jr., Alexandra, and Mackenzie Weinkowitz and Julia Hamilton. Elaine will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A private service will be held for the immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Elaine’s memory to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380 or by clicking here.

To Elaine’s loving family. I would like to let you know how treasured she was as a member for years at the New Day Group at St Nick’s. We just loved her and truly miss how the past several years we could not meet in person. I personally was looking forward to being able to open that meeting back up. Most especially to be able to start my days during the week at St Nick’s so I could spend time with her one of my most favorite members. I know you all will miss her terribly. I will keep you in my prayers. SINCERELY SANDY LOTT
