Elaine K. Hearne, age 78, of Newark, DE, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020.

Born in Wilmington, DE on December 11, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Gladys (Thistlewood) Kennedy. Elaine earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware. She worked as an elementary art teacher at Albert H. Jones Elementary School. Elaine was an avid, lifelong equestrian. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. Elaine will be dearly missed by all.

In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. “Chuck” Hearne. She is survived by her children, C. Michael Hearne (Lynnette) of Sellersville, PA and Lee M. Hearne (Stephanie) of Newark; and twin sister, Kathleen Hart of Newark.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11:30 am on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE. Face masks will be required for all in attendance.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elaine’s memory to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 E. 33rd Street, Ste. 1100, New York, NY 10016.
