Ellen Esther Patterson

Mrs. Ellen Esther Patterson, age 75, of Somerford Place in Newark, DE, formerly of New Castle, DE, and Boca Raton, FL, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011, after a long illness.
Born in Wilmington on December 16, 1935, Ellen was the daughter of the late Robert Cammock and Ellen Conner Cammock. After marrying her husband, Cecil T. Patterson, in 1952, she was proud to become a resourceful military wife residing in many different states over the years. With her husband and five children, she returned to Delaware in 1971. A talented homemaker throughout her life, Ellen was devoted to caring for her family; she especially cherished fun times spent with her beloved grandchildren.
While spending her winters in Boca Raton and her summers in New Castle, Ellen volunteered with many organizations including the West Boca Medical Center as well as the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, where she delighted in working closely with the children and families residing there.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1973. She is survived by her children, Debbie and her husband Larry, Glenn, Greg and his wife Karen, Garry, and Dianna; grandchildren, Cecil and his wife Roseann, Josh and his wife Amy, Kylie, Jeremy, Connor, and Lilly; great grandchildren, Madison and Tyler; two brothers; a sister; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 19, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 9:30 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, 1901 Rockland Road, Wilmington, DE 19803.
