Eloise B. Hobday

Mrs. Eloise B. Hobday, age 82, of Millcroft in Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2012.
Born in Grand Rapids, MI on July 12, 1929, Mrs. Hobday was the daughter of the late W. Harold Batts and Mildred Herrick Batts. She married her beloved husband, Edward O. Hobday, in 1950, and moved with her family to Newark, DE in 1968.
A talented homemaker who devoted her life to caring for family, Mrs. Hobday was always at her happiest when in the company of her children and grandchildren. In earlier years, she especially enjoyed traveling with her husband. She was a member of the New England Historic Genealogical Society in Boston and the Osterville (MA) Historical Society.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Edward; children, Gary Hobday (Carol) of Landisville, PA, Susan Jenkins (Richard) of Newark, DE, David Hobday (Gwen Sherman) of Bridgeville, DE, Philip Hobday (Liz) of Phoenix, AZ, Barbara Owens (Ted) of Austin, TX, and Amy Lesko (John) of Newark, DE; brother, Jack Batts (Nancy) of Grand Rapids, MI; 10 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Millcroft and at Christiana Hospital for their outstanding care of Mrs. Hobday during her brief illness.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 2 pm. Interment will be held privately in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
