Emma E. Ainsworth

Died: 11/13/2010

Mrs. Emma E. Ainsworth, age 85, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at Christiana Hospital.

Mrs. Ainsworth was born in Wilmington on New Years Eve 1924, daughter of the late Harry D. Krauss and Lillian E. Krauss, and grew up in the Rockford Park area. As a young woman in the 1940s, she was employed in the textile industry with Bancroft Mills. Following her marriage to her beloved husband, Willard E. Ainsworth, the couple made their home in Elsmere, later moving their young family to New Castle. Mrs. Ainsworth would remain a talented homemaker throughout her life and also was employed in various other jobs until her retirement. In her leisure hours, Mrs. Ainsworth greatly enjoyed gaming and solving challenging puzzles. She particularly liked caring for her familys dogs, especially her current pet, Goldie. Admired by family and friends alike as a positive person with a great zest for life, she will be remembered most of all for her complete devotion to her family and her generosity in sharing both her time and talents with them. She delighted in being a loving, supportive mother to all who knew her.

Willard Sr. died in 1999 after 52 years of marriage. She is survived by her children, Sue Ann Marsland (Bruce), Willard E. Ainsworth, Jr. (Denise), Virginia Lee Ainsworth, and Lewis M. Ainsworth II (Paula); sisters, Lillian Taylor and Hazel Winder; grandchildren, Lisa Gale, Dan Marsland, Jesse Stevens, Kelle Janesko, Lewis Ainsworth, and Brooke Ainsworth; and great grandchildren, Justin Dziewit, Emily Gale, and Summer Marsland.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, November 19, 2010, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
