Ethel Louise Mills, age 93, of Wilmington and formerly of Bear, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 13, 2018.

Born in Delta, PA, on March 26, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Robert Oral and Sarah (Norris) Heaps. Ethel was a kindergarten teacher for many years for Asbury U.M. Church. Later she became their day care supervisor. She retired after 25 years of service, touching the lives of many young children. Following retirement she enjoyed being a homemaker. Ethel was an avid gardener and loved tending to her flowers and rose gardens.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Cadia for the compassionate care given to their mother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, William Tyson Mills; son, William Mills; and siblings, Margaret McGibney, William Heaps, Robert Heaps, Elaine Thompson, Mason Heaps and Roland Heaps. Ethel is survived by her daughters, Constance M. White of Bear and Kathryn J. Sutton (Ronald) of Key Colony Beach, FL; sister, Jean Rhodes; grandchildren, Marlena, Brian (Nichole), Cheri (Mike), Dave (Lisa), Krissy (Eric) and Ronnie II (Deana); 21 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 7 pm until 8 pm on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 8 pm. Interment will be held privately in New St. Paul’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ethel’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
