Fatima J. “Tina” (Mills) Johnsen

Fatima J. “Tina” (Mills) Johnsen, age 66, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 20, 2021.

Born in Washington Heights, NY, on August 22, 1955, to the union of the late Mary and William Mills.

In 1984, Tina met Arnie Johnsen while working at Citibank. They got married on November 14, 1986, and from that union they have two wonderful children, Ray and Kaitlin Johnsen. Tina was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She ran the household in Aberdeen, NJ, and cared for her grandson, Braedon, until he began school. In 2010, they retired to Spring Arbor in Middletown, DE. Tina and Arnie were very active members in their community. Tina enjoyed sitting at the pool daily, soaking up the sun and leading a water aerobics class.

Tina was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in December 2018. She was a champion and warrior, fighting through seven rounds of chemo and three surgeries. All along, Arnie was her steadfast and devoted caretaker.

In addition to her parents, Tina was preceded in death by her brother, Ray Mills. She leaves to mourn her memory, her husband of 35 years, Arnie Johnsen; son, Ray Johnsen; daughter, Kaitlin Johnsen; sister, Patricia Grant; grandchildren, Braedon and Riley; and a host of close friends and relatives.

Visitations for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 pm and from 2 pm until 4 pm on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE. Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance not immunized with the COVID-19 vaccine per the Governor of Delaware. Services and interment will be held privately.

    Soon after I moved to Spring Arbor I started water aerobics with Tina as the “Drill Sergeant “. She made water aerobics challenging and fun. I knew we made the right choice moving to Spring Arbor then.
