Firman Collins Argoe
August 17, 1933 - March 19, 2018
Firman Collins Argoe, age 84, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 19, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Middletown, DE on August 17, 1933, he was one of ten children to the late Lloyd and Mabel (Marvel) Argoe. Firman proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. In his earlier years he worked in various occupations. He joined the Delaware State Police in 1962, where he dedicated 20 years of service, retiring as Captain in 1982. Following retirement he worked for Jim and Harold’s Towing for the next 30 years.
Firman enjoyed summer vacations at Dewey Beach, where he liked surf fishing. He loved drag racing with his grandsons and great grandsons. Above all else, Firman’s passion was spending time with his beloved wife and family. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and a dear friend to many.
In addition to his parents, Firman was preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Scanell, Betty Rodenheiser, Lena Johnson, Lydia Smith; and brothers, Marvel Argoe and James “Jim” Argoe, Sr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara Sara (Fleming) Argoe; children, Barbara Stack (Jeff), Sandy Hughes (John), Kelly Bubb (Scott) and Jeffrey Argoe (Angela); sisters, Althea Johnston and Joanne Argoe; brother, William “Bill” Argoe; grandchildren, Michael (Karen), Nicole (Roger), JC (Megan), Marc (Cara), Cody, Jillian (Rusty), Logan (Derek) and Brittney; great grandchildren, Austin, Anthony, Aubrey, Rylee, Isabella, Haylei, Chayse and Skyler; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 noon on Monday, March 26, 2018 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, 19720.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Firman’s name to DE Chapter of C.O.P.S, P.O. Box 430, Dover, DE 19903.
