Florence Elizabeth “Betty” Downes

Florence Elizabeth “Betty” Downes, age 94, of Smyrna, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 5, 2018.
Born in West Grove, PA, on April 10, 1924, she was a daughter of the late William and Olive (Montgomery) Prindiville. A talented seamstress, Betty worked for the sewing factory in Wilmington and JC Penney where she specialized in custom draperies.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Malone R. Downes; son, Donald Jones; and sister, Jean F. Harrington. Betty is survived by her granddaughter, Samantha Jones; grandson, Christopher Jones; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A committal service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, November 19, 2018, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
