Florence Lydia Flossie Edwards
Mrs. Florence Lydia “Flossie” Edwards, age 88, a 60-year resident of Wilmington Manor in New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 3, 2012.
A native Delawarean, Flossie was born in Wilmington on December 31, 1923, daughter of the late Levi J. Lattomus and Rebecca J. Lowther, and attended A.I. duPont School. She was a talented homemaker and devoted her life to caring for her beloved family.
Active in her community, Flossie was a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church in New Castle and Order of the Eastern Star Five Points Chapter #13 in Newport. She also enjoyed playing in the popular Jug Band with her friends at the Fraim Senior Center in Elsmere.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles N. Edwards; brothers, Joseph Lattomus and William Lattomus; and sisters, Orpha L. Frey and Ann Stewart.
She is survived by her daughters, Jane E. Dempsey (Dick) of Bear, and Joyce E. Wilkins (Bob) of Newark; brother-in-law, Jesse Stewart of Pike Creek; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a great great grandson.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 9:30 am.
