Francis Henry “Frank” Cerullo, Sr.
August 14, 1947 - August 25, 2024
Francis Henry “Frank” Cerullo, Sr., 77, of New Castle, peacefully passed away on August 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 14, 1947, in Medford, Massachusetts, Frank was the beloved son of the late Henry and Jeanette Cerullo. He had a lifelong passion for playing hockey, watching and coaching sports, a deep love of the beach and all things aviation. His enthusiasm for aircraft led to his fulfilling 40-year career working at various aviation companies, including Eastern Airlines and Airborne Express, where he was known for his kindness, dedication, and tireless work ethic.
Frank was married to Janice (Wood) Cerullo for 56 years, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, whose greatest joy came from spending time with his family. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he took immense pride in watching them grow.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Janice; his children, Frank Cerullo, Jr. (Dawn), Cindy Charette (John) and Lisa Gilroy (Kevin); his grandchildren, Nicholas, Noah, Griffin, Declan, Gianna, Sophia, Emma, John and Ashley; and his sister, Elenor Tivnan (John).
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Frank’s memory to the New Jersey Air Victory Museum, 68 Stacy Haines Road, Lumberton, NJ 08048, an organization dear to his heart where he volunteered, nurturing his passion for aviation and preserving its rich history.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the medical staff at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for their exceptional care and support during Frank’s final days.
Frank’s warmth, love, and unwavering friendship will forever be remembered by all who were fortunate to know him.

Frank and I worked together for many airline s from Eastern, Midway, and KIWI. We had bad times and many great times both on the job and off. Frank and I would go fishing together and it was always fun. I wish my sympathy to his family, know he will be missed by us all.

May those who grieve find solace in a life filled with love and laughter, in the life of a man whose legacy of joy extends far beyond the family who remains and includes those of us touched by his selflessness and talents as a coach.
Thank you, Mr C, for always believing in us!
