Garland W. Taylor, age 93, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025.

Born in Goodwill, WV on August 17, 1932, he was a son of the late Mac and Elsie (Harmon) Taylor. Garland made his career as a foreman at Danela Construction Company until his retirement in 2002.

A man of faith, Garland looked forward to attending church every Sunday. He enjoyed spending his free time working outside or watching Western movies. Most of all, Garland cherished his family and loved them deeply.

In addition to his parents, Garland was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor L. (Havens) Taylor; daughters, Connie Murphy and Cynthia Jones; grandson, Jason Taylor; sons-in-law, William Murphy and James Shahan; and daughter-in-law, Drema Taylor. He is survived by his children, Michael Taylor, Sheila Summerfield (Kevin), Donna Shahan, and Cheryl Shahan (Carl); sister, Shirley Beckner; 16 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

  • The biggest thing in this obituary is a man of faith. His faith and devotion for God was something to be admired. Because of him I had the blueprint on how to live a life of true faithfulness and devotion to God. He will be sorely missed ❤️
