Genevieve Bazzel

Mrs. Genevieve R. Bazzel, known fondly as “Gen,” age 92, of Newark, DE, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2011.
Mrs. Bazzel was born in Utica, NY, on December 6, 1918, daughter of the late Peter B. Robertson and Christina Gordon Robertson. An administrator by profession, she was employed as a senior secretary and office coordinator at the University of Delaware until her retirement in 1979. In earlier years, she was active with the Brookside Community Activities Council.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Elmer W. “Jim” Bazzel, Jr., in 1995. She is survived by her son, Col. (Ret.) Peter J. Bazzel of W. Springfield, VA; daughter, Susan M. Bazzel (Cris Brady) of Landenberg, PA; granddaughters, Jennifer Bazzel (Shawn Stone) of Kingstowne, VA, Rebecca Bazzel of W. Springfield, VA, and Christina McConn (Mark) of Annandale, VA; and great grandchildren, Tayler, Tanner, Riley, Billy, and Aiden.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, December 10, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 1:30 pm. Entombment will be held privately in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
