Mr. George F. Wagner III, age 65, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2013.
Born in Salisbury, MD, on June 4, 1948, Mr. Wagner was the son of the late George F. Wagner, Jr. and Nancy Day Wagner. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and, in civilian life, made his career with the General Motors Corporation, where he retired in 2005.
Active in his community, Mr. Wagner was a Life Member of the Minquadale Volunteer Fire Company. In his leisure hours, he greatly enjoyed playing golf, fishing, taking trips to the beach, listening to country music, and cheering each season for his favorite teams, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Green Bay Packers. He delighted most of all in spending time with his beloved wife, Kathy (who passed away in 2006), his family, and his many good friends, especially during their many happy and memorable summer vacations.
In addition to his parents and Kathy, he was preceded in death by his best friend and brother-in-law, Bobby Thompson. He is survived by his sisters, Patricia A. Wagner and Gail C. England, both of New Castle; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Cheryl Thompson, David Kibler, Woody and Ninny Kibler, and Donna Anderson; and aunts, uncles, and many special nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10 am to 11 am on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 am at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
