George L. “Fritz” Bowser, Sr.

January 26, 1952 - January 21, 2022

George L. “Fritz” Bowser, Sr., age 69, of Newark, DE, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022.

Born in Wilmington, DE, on January 26, 1952, he was a son of the late Chester Bowser and Evalyn (Sollenberger) Gill. Fritz worked as a chemical operator for Dow for 25 years, until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening and nature. Most of all, Fritz loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Sam Bowser, Earl Bowser, and Helen Vansant; stepfather, Winfred Gill; and son-in-law, Paul Elvey. Fritz is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda J. (Leach) Bowser; children, Tammy Elvey, George Bowser, Jr., and William Bowser (Roxanne); siblings, Clinton Bowser (Mary), Paul Bowser (Jane), and Ethel Breakiron; 8 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.  

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will be held at 7 pm.  Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance regardless of their vaccination status. Interment will be held privately.

  • Linda & family Words can not express how sorry I am for your loss. I haven’t seen you Linda or George in a very long time ( when we were all kids) . But just from being George’s Facebook friend I know that George loved you very much Linda. He loved all his family and he let everyone know that he did. I know he is in a better place surrounded by family and Angels in Gods Glory.
