Mrs. Geraldine Carol Griffith, known fondly as “Geri,” age 73, of New Castle, DE, joined our Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 24, 2013.
Born in Wilmington on August 18, 1939, Geri was the daughter of the late Stephen Grabowski and Irene Kolakowski Grabowski. Graduating from Wilmington High School in 1957, she married the love of her life and best friend, Clarence Carl “Griff” Griffith, Sr.
Geri was a talented homemaker who loved to bowl with the Wednesday A.M. Housewives and also in the Saturday Night Happy Hour Leagues. Her happiest days were spent with her children and grandchildren in her backyard swimming pool in the summer. Traveling with Griff to West Virginia was something that Geri looked forward to every year. All family functions were held at Geri’s home, where she delighted in making sure everyone had a good time. Good food and fun topped with lots of hugs and kisses made her life complete. She was loved dearly by family and friends alike and will be sorely missed by all.
Griff, her beloved husband of 52 years, passed away in 2008. She leaves behind her children, Roni Griffith and her companion John Hensley of New Castle, Lisa Orr and her husband Dave of New Castle, and Clarence C. “Skip” Griffith, Jr. of New Castle; family friend, Nancy Griffith of Bear; twin sister, Irene Marcotte and her husband Earl of Rehoboth Beach; brother, Stephen J. Grabowski and his wife Martha of Rehoboth Beach; sister-in-law, Karen McClure of Charleston, WV; grandchildren, Sabrina Griffith, Casey Griffith, David Orr and wife his Chrissy, Scott Orr, Tyler Hensley, Chandler Hensley, Dustin Hensley, and John Hensley; great grandchildren, Shane, Julian, Joslyn, Shyan, Julianna, Aubrey, Logan, Blake, and Avery; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2 pm to 4 pm on Sunday, January 27th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, January 28th, at the funeral home, where a second visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington.
