Geralyn Julia White

Geralyn Julia Taplin White, age 52, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2012.
Geri was born in Wilmington on April 22, 1959. She received her bachelor’s degree in human resources from Wilmington University and would go on to a career as a highly-skilled and compassionate real estate agent. She later accepted a position with Bank of America, where she was employed for the past 2 1/2 years.
Admired by her family and her many good friends for her fun-loving and spirited nature, Geri lived an adventurous life. She relished exploring the outdoors and delighted in kayaking, hiking, and camping. She especially enjoyed spending time at the beach and could often be seen riding along the surf, carefree in her Jeep with the top down and doors off.
Geri was also devoted to animal welfare throughout her life. She was active in both dog and cat rescue and helped place many homeless animals into loving homes over the years.
She is survived her children to whom she was a devoted and loving mother, Brendan Allen White and Christine Julia White and their father, Billy A. White; her parents, Walter Taplin and Patricia Marr Taplin; her brother, Walter Taplin and wife, Cecelia; and her sister, Patricia Hinchliffe. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Taplin.
A memorial service will be held at 7 pm on Monday, February 6, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 6 pm.
