Gloria Lowe Lewis

Mrs. Gloria Estella Lowe Lewis, age 88, of Newark, DE, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012.
A native Delawarean, Mrs. Lewis was born in Wilmington on November 27, 1923, daughter of the late Niclas T. Mackres and Mary T. Rosso Mackres. She made her career with Astra Zeneca (formerly Atlas and ICI), working as the promotions purchaser in the advertising department, where she retired after 25 years.
Active in her community, Mrs. Lewis was a longtime member of St. John’s-Holy Angels parish and the Newark Senior Center.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Richard A. “Dick” Lewis; sons, Douglas Lowe (Nancy) and Martin L. Lowe, Jr. (Kathleen); stepdaughter, Barbara J. Lewis Hickey (Anthony); grandchildren, Steven Lowe, Thomas Lowe, and Amanda Lowe; step grandchildren, Michelle Suchyj, Melanie Pertain, Monica Herjavec, Mason Hickey, and Mackenzie Hickey; and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Martin L. Lowe, Sr.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of Delaware Hospice and of Newark Manor Nursing Home for their many kindnesses to Mrs. Lewis during her illness.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 11 am on Friday, November 9th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:45 am at Holy Angels R.C. Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark. Interment will be Silverbrook Cemetery, Lancaster Ave. and DuPont Rd., Wilmington.
