Helen C. Schneider

November 18, 1925 - November 21, 2019

          Helen C. Schneider, age 94, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 21, 2019.

          Born in Bridgeton, NJ on November 18, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Huey and Ruth (Newkirk) Cole.  Helen worked as a school bus driver in the Colonial School District.  Throughout her many years as a bus driver she touched the lives of many children.

          Helen loved to sew and will be remembered for always humming.  She had a huge loving heart and was always willing to help anyone with a place to stay, including stray animals.  Above all, Helen will be remembered for her generous heart, as a loving mom, grandmother and dear friend to many.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Dale Brooks Schneider, Sr.; son, Dale B. Schneider, Jr.; daughter, Linda S. Schneider; and several siblings.  Helen is survived by her children, Ruth A. Bertollo (Paul), Daniel L. Schneider (Annette) and Thomas A. Schneider; daughter-in-law, Cindy Schneider; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.

          A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am.  Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

          In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Helen’s memory to A.I DuPont Children’s Hospital, 1600 Rockland Road, Wilmington, DE 19803.
